Old African Chevron Melon Trade Beads

These beautiful strands of Antique Melon Trade Beads was used by Traders who went to Africa as currency because money was of no use to the natives. They received their names because of their shape. Please see Picard's "Chevron and Nueva Cadiz Beads" for more information.

They look like small watermelons. Some are made in the chevron style of layering. Very unique and beautiful. Each bead is 100% handmade and each has a slight variance. This is what make them so individual. Each bead is about 1/2 inch. Pictures are example. Quantities are limited. Some of the beads need cleaning, I will leave that to you.
